The working world is rapidly evolving, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is at the forefront of this transformation. While AI has become a popular buzzword, many are still unsure how to use it in their daily lives or understand its potential for boosting productivity and fostering innovation.

As an AI enthusiast, tech advocate, and STEM ambassador, I’m excited to share my personal journey with AI, specifically Microsoft 365 Copilot, and how it’s reshaping how I work and live.

 

My Journey with Microsoft 365 Copilot

In my role as a Modern Work & Security Specialist, balancing multiple meetings, projects, and tasks can often feel overwhelming. Enter Microsoft 365 Copilot—a powerful tool that’s become my personal productivity partner. Copilot assists me by drafting emails, summarizing documents, finding quick answers, and even helping me prepare for meetings. It adapts to my needs, learns from my interactions, and helps me work smarter, not harder.

What’s more, AI has become a valuable tool in preventing burnout. By automating mundane tasks and streamlining workflows, it enables me to focus on what truly matters, and most importantly, spend quality time with my family.

 

The Art of Effective Prompting

One of the key skills in leveraging AI is knowing how to communicate with it effectively. The better your instructions (or “prompts”), the better the output you’ll receive. Here’s a tip: Be clear, concise, and specific in what you ask, and don’t settle for the first result—refine your prompts to get the best outcome.

For example, try this prompt for generating a Pixar-style image: “Pixar-style character with a smile, brown eyes, long dark brown hair typing on her laptop with AI, unlocking the future, with the London skyline and a red bus in the background.”

It’s all about experimenting and improving your prompts over time.

 

Boosting Productivity and Collaboration with Copilot

At a recent Prompt-A-Thon hosted by Microsoft, I had the opportunity to enhance my prompting skills and explore how Copilot can be integrated into daily operations. The experience highlighted three key insights:

• Increased Productivity: By streamlining tasks and refining how I work, Copilot helps me make the most of my day.
• Best Practices for AI Adoption: Learning how to effectively use AI tools like Copilot across various apps and platforms ensures maximum benefit.

Breaking Barriers and Empowering Diversity in AI

Beyond the technology, AI is about breaking barriers and creating new opportunities, particularly for women and underrepresented groups in STEM. For working professionals like myself, AI levels the playing field and empowers us to lead with confidence and creativity.

AI provides a wealth of opportunities to drive innovation and bridge the gap between different perspectives and experiences. In the world of AI, diversity isn’t just an advantage—it’s essential. We need to advocate for more women, people of color, and underrepresented individuals in AI to ensure that our teams reflect the world we live in.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey is inspiring the next generation of women in STEM. By sharing our experiences and providing mentorship, we can open doors for future leaders in AI.
