You Need to Prioritise Multi-Factor Authentication

It’s been widely reported that malicious actors continue to use stolen login credentials to help brute-force their way into high-profile cloud-based business systems that haven’t invested in MFA technology.

Cybercriminals frequently scan for vulnerable companies whose networks haven’t implemented vigilant security solutions. SC Magazine reports that Proofpoint researchers studied hundreds of thousands of unauthorised logins, finding:

• More than 80% of all breaches are caused by credential theft
• 72% of cloud tenants were targeted at least once by threat actor
• 15 out of every 10,000 active user-accounts were successfully breached by attackers
• 40% of tenants had at least one compromised account in their environment

It’s clear from these findings that multi-factor authentication should be treated as high a priority to your business as a firewall.
